Trump super PAC girds for 2020 in key battlegrounds with new polling team
A key and well-funded pro-Trump super PAC and its sister nonprofit organization are ramping up for the 2020 election, hiring three national pollsters to help their efforts in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan.
America First Action PAC and America First Policies told Secrets that they hired they Wes Anderson, Jon Lerner, and Adam Geller, all with extensive GOP polling background and experiences.
“These three professionals are exceptional pollsters whom we trust and are committed to the mission of our organizations. We’re proud to have them on board,” said Brian O. Walsh, president of America First.
The groups raised $17.8 million during the first half of 2019 and hope to raise $300 for Trump’s reelection in a race that is expected to be the most expensive in history.
The group said that it shopped around for pollsters and that the trio will begin work immediately.
Anderson is a co-founder of OnMessage with his brother Curt and will poll in Florida and Ohio. He has polled for the successful Senate campaigns of Florida’s Rick Scott and Missouri’s Josh Hawley and has a client list that includes Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, the Orlando Magic, and Detroit Red Wings. He was also the lead pollster for the National Rifle Association.
Lerner, the founder of Basswood Research and Red Sea, will poll in Pennsylvania and Georgia.
His clients have included Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey, Georgia Sen. David Perdue, and the Republican Governors’ Association.
Geller founded National Research Inc. and will poll in Michigan and North Carolina.
In 2016, he polled for Trump in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa. His results prompted the campaign to invest in the states. Trump shocked Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign by winning all three states.
He has also polled for several GOP congressional candidates and is known polling for former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
